The summer is a little bit hard for me as the mom. The kids are around all. the. time. I really really miss my daily afternoon quiet time. That being said, it's also a lot of fun. We go do stuff and play with friends every day. This summer has been a blast so far. We played hard in June, including a week+ trip to the Pacific Northwest, which will get it's own post. When we were home we were mostly playing!
Some fun things:
Having Mel and Wilson over to play in the water table. Wilson loved splashing and eating the back door. We also got another chance to babysit Wilson. He's such a sweetheart and he took a 2 hour nap!
Weston spent two days at Cub Scout Day camp. He had a blast with his friends even though they got rained on for the second year in a row.
A trip to the Thanksgiving Point gardens with friends.
The library sponsored a fun petting zoo at the park one day. It was packed, but Beckett loved seeing the animals.
Bowling with my boys while Talia went to back to back birthday parties.
I'm in the Primary presidency and we put on a fun "Xample Games" party for the kids. There were four different stations that they rotated around to with different water games that taught the kids something about how to follow Christ's example. It was cute and the kids had a blast.
Watching my garden grow. Can't wait to grill me up some summer squash and zucchini!
Exercising. Mostly on my elliptical in the basement, but I drag the kids along to Zumba on Tuesdays too. Trying hard to maintain through the summer and not gain weight back!
We visited the BYU Bean Museum and ended our outing with some Creamery ice cream.
The dinosaur museum is always in there. This summer Thanksgiving Point is building a different "wonder of the world" out of balloons each week. Kind of weird, but fun!
Beating the heat with good Summer food and trips to the movies. I took Talia to see Cinderella as her reward for getting her 60 second back float at swimming lessons. The boys and I met up with Ian at lunch one day to see Inside Out. Did I mention it has been HOT?!?
The kids did awesome at swimming lessons! I am loving watching them conquer their fears and build their skills!
Eating watermelon.
Swimming as a family at the Lindon Aquatic Center. We love that pool!
Playing in the back yard. A lot.
We celebrated Father's Day with our awesome Dad! I gave Ian this cool zero gravity lounge chair, a bike tool, and some of his favorite Sweet Tooth Fairy cake bites. We sure love him and all the hard work he does so that we can have such a great life. I picked a good one!
Playing with friends. A lot. We have been over to our neighbor's front yard to play in the kiddie pool and with water guns a few different times. It's always so fun. I get to sit and visit with my friends while all of our kids run around and get their energy out and get wet. Summer doesn't get much better than that. Love our neighborhood!
The occasional meltdown.
Our robin and her beautiful nest! I discovered the nest up in my hanging flower basket after our Pacific Northwest trip. I couldn't figure out why my flowers were dying. I sacrificed my flowers for the robin and her pretty blue eggs. The kids and I love watching her comings and goings. Right now she is sitting on her eggs full time. I'm excited to see some brand new baby robins soon!
There's been a fair amount of hanging out at home going on too. Mel came and hung out one night and we did Jamberry pedicures while Ian and Brad went to a Real Salt Lake game. So glad they live close by! Talia likes to model whenever she gets new clothes. I ordered her a bunch of stuff from the Disney store for so cheap! She loves her blue Doc bathing suit and blue Cinderella nightgown, which she wore with Cinderella underwear. What a fashionista!
This dress was a party favor. Yep came in a giant Minnie Mouse tote bag from one of Talia's friends' birthday parties. She will only wear it for 5 minutes at a time because it's itchy. Haha.
