May started out with a bang! Mel and Brad had their second baby, little Miss Stella Quinn, on Sunday May 1st. She is just the sweetest little lump. I loved getting to go and snuggle her in the hospital when she was just hours old. I watched Wilson that afternoon then went back to the hospital to drop him off and get a few more snuggles. :) I love being an auntie!
On Monday we had Wilson with us again. He's such a cute, crazy boy. We played at the park and watched a movie. Tuesday morning I took Talia with me down to the Curnow's and we hung out with Wilson there while Brad and Mel checked out of the hospital. We got to see Stella for a few minutes before we left to pick up Beckett from preschool. Talia loooved getting to hold Stella!Weston had a "rock concert" at school that he had been super excited about. I got a good seat and had fun watching him and the rest of the 4th graders sing songs about all the rocks they had learned about as part of their geology course. Weston even had a speaking part! He can now explain a lot of the information on the plaques at the dinosaur museum to us.
When we got home from the rock concert and Davin got home from school I noticed that Dav and Tal both looked like they were coming down with pink eye. Oops! Sure enough a few hours later they both looked awful. Luckily my pediatricians office let us talk on the phone to the NP and she called in drops for them. Sadly we all passed around pink eye for the next couple of weeks. Only Ian and Weston managed to avoid it.
We laid low for a few days while we did drops and tried not to infect everyone else. Talia and I played Samantha dolls and we watched lots of movies.
Later that weekend we super needed to get out of the house since it had been stake conference and I only took the big boys. We took a drive up Provo Canyon and Ian scoped out a park that he was doing a shoot at and we all played a little. I thought we were going to get rained on but it ended up being a great little outing.
Weston turned in an application/essay hoping to get chosen for Fox Hollow's student council. He came home one day after the end of the year awards assembly with the news that he is on student council! Yay! His best friend, Grant, got on too! They are both super excited. Weston also came home with a perfect attendance award (which came with a $5 reward). It was a good day. I'm proud of Weston for his hard work in school and his ambition to help and serve on student council.
The end of the school year is always frantically busy and this year was no exception. I was busy helping put on the Pinewood Derby too. The boys were both really excited to race their cars. It was Davin's first Pinewood Derby and Weston's last. Our cubmaster rented this super cool track with a loop in it. We had an amazing turnout and both of the boys' cars did awesome! They got to stay in for a long time. Davin even got 4th place!
The next day was the elementary school dance festival. I could see so well this year! Weston got to do an extra Drums Alive number because his class won a PE contest. He was right in the front and did awesome! He was super into it. He was also right in the front for his Kung Fu Fighting dance he did with his grade. Davin was right in front of me for his dance too! It was so fun to watch them perform what they had practiced!
Later that night was Talia's Spring dance recital! Sadly Ian was on a video shoot and couldn't make it to the recital, but the Curnow's came to watch her and even brought her flowers. She looked just darling in her blue Cinderella costume. She did a cute dance and bowed over and over again at the end. It was so fun watching her and all the other cutie pies. I have really enjoyed her dance studio and am kind of sad she doesn't want to do it again next year. We are moving on and trying out gymnastics! After the recital we took some pictures then I took the kids out for ice cream at Cold Stone.
That weekend we rested up. The kids built a pretty epic blanket fort in the morning and I let them leave it up for the afternoon too. They watched shows in there and played games. Childhood at it's finest.
The next week was the last week of school! Beckett's joy school did a little field trip to Macey's grocery store. It was a fun experience full of information and free samples. :)
Talia graduated from preschool for good! She had an wonderful year in preschool with Miss Tiff and she will miss her cute friends. She loved her graduation ceremony and singing all of the songs she learned throughout the year. I'm proud of her for doing such a great job learning letters and sounds and songs and social skills! On to Kindergarten!
Thursday was the big boys' last day of school. Technically Friday was the last day of school, but we missed it because we drove to CA for our summer vacation that day. I didn't buy yearbooks this year, so instead the boys each took a beach ball and a sharpie for their friends to sign. They liked that idea and came home with lots of names on their beach balls. Hooray for school being out! What a fun year we had!
That morning we had a little end of the year joy school party too. I am so glad that I did joy school with Beckett this year. It was so wonderful for him to have a group of friends to play with regularly and to start learning letters and numbers. He will go to the same preschool as Talia next year.
As soon as school was done we packed up and headed out early Friday morning for a CA vacation! Let the summer begin!
