March was a super crazy, busy, fun, month. We have had such amazingly warm and dry weather this winter, but on March 3rd we got a full on blizzard snow storm! It hit right after I took Talia to preschool and I had to shovel the driveway to get out to pick her up. We spent about 10 minutes out playing in the snow and eating some before we got cold and came inside to snuggle up and watch a movie. :)
That afternoon when I went to get Beckett up from his nap he was sitting in bed reading all these books. I cracked open his door and whispered "what are you doing?" He buried his head a little further into his book. "Beckett? Beckett are you reading? Look at Mama." He just smiled and kept looking at his book. Finally he looked up at me and this is the face I got. Haha! It was so funny and cute. I climbed on his bed and read that whole pile of books to him. Love my cute Beckett dude!
The kids had a random Monday off school for a teacher development day. The boys had brought home their report cards from school the week before and did great. We decided to try out Krispy Kreme's "Donuts for A's" program. We drove down to the Provo Krispy Kreme and ended up getting 17 free glazed donuts! The boys each got a free half dozen donuts for their good report cards. Plus we each got our own fresh hot free donut. The kids loved their warm donuts and watching the assembly line of the donuts.
After donuts we stopped and got all three of the boys hair cuts. Beckett got his done at Sport Clips for the first time and he did great! They all look so handsome with freshly cut hair! We made it home just in time for our neighbor Rachel to come over. We babysat her all afternoon. We ended up going to the lake park to play after naps. The ducks weren't hungry at all but we walked around the lake and played on the playground. It was nice.

The next week I had to go to the dentist to get two cavities filled. Blah. It had been several years (8 I think) since I had gotten a cavity filled. I was a huge baby about it! I got laughing gas though and that helped me just zone out. :)
March was the month of my eyes! The first week of the month I went to the eye doctor to check on the new brand of contacts he had given me. They were fine, but I was hoping to have Lasik done so I didn't order any. Starting that day though I had to leave my contacts out for a Lasik pre-op appointment I had scheduled for the 18th. It was rough having to wear my glasses full time!
Thursday night, March 12th, Ian was on his phone when he showed me a Groupon he had found for Lasik eye surgery through the Lasik Vision Institute. I was a little skeptical about a groupon for eye surgery, but I went ahead and called them on Friday to find out a little more info. They scheduled me for a consult/pre-op appointment on Saturday morning with the option for same day surgery if I was a candidate! What?!? I was excited and nervous. I went to the appointment Saturday morning and found out I could do custom Lasik and they could do it that same day at 6pm. We already had a babysitter coming since we were supposed to go out on a date for my birthday. Instead of a nice dinner though we grabbed snacks at the Maverick and I went in for Lasik surgery!
I was nervous and not feeling great. I had a headache from having my eyes dilated earlier that day. The procedure was pretty scary, but also pretty fast. I was only in the operating room for about 20 minutes. I wish I had asked for a sedative because I kind of panicked. They use an eye speculum to hold your eye open then you have to try to keep your eye focused on one spot while the laser is working it's magic. It was super scary to me that I could mess up my own surgery and ruin my vision! Plus it hurts.
As soon as it was over I just didn't want to open my eyes. Unfortunately the front desk had forgotten to give me the prescriptions for the antibiotic eye drops I needed so instead of being able to go straight home we had to find a pharmacy that was open and could get us the drops. Finally we dropped off the RX and headed home. I took Excedrin PM and went straight to bed. Ian got the kids settled in bed then went to pick up my prescription drops. It took me forever to fall asleep because I was so uncomfortable, but once I finally slept my eyes felt better. I got up around midnight to put in the antibiotic drops and almost passed out. I think I was dehydrated. I went back to bed and slept until morning. In the morning the pain was a lot less and I could see! My vision was a little foggy but not bad. I took it easy on Sunday and napped. It felt like I had an eyelash in my eye all day and I couldn't do anything about it cause I wasn't allowed to touch or rub my eyes.
Monday morning I was much better. I even drove that day. I took the little ones to the library. I looked kind of scary because I couldn't wear makeup yet and my eyes were bruised so they looked gross and bloody. That night we went mini golfing for FHE. That was hard on my eyes because it was windy outside. I also couldn't see well enough to drive at night. However, overall I would say Lasik is amazing! I am seeing great and the bruising is almost gone now. I compare it to childbirth . . . you have one crappy day and then you get to see (in childbirth it would be one crappy day and then you get a baby!)!
Tuesday was my birthday! It was a very good day. I got up early and opened my presents before Ian and the boys left. I got a new iPhone dock alarm clock. It's really cool and has good speakers and even a remote (so I can change songs/volume while I'm folding laundry). I also got a movie. My favorite was Ian made me these beautiful wall hangings for above our bed. I have been looking for something to put there ever since we moved here and nothing was quite right.
Talia had preschool, so I got some down time with Beckett. After I picked Talia up we went to lunch at Kneaders with my friend Nicole. That afternoon I got to chill. I talked with family and friends. My friend, Lorie came over and chatted for a bit. I got treats from several friends too. Mel and Brad came over later and we all went to dinner at In N Out. It was low key and fun. After dinner we had ice cream cake and presents back at the house. I had a wonderful day and felt so loved.
Later that week I went to watch Weston's drama performance at school. It was a puppet show. Weston's class were broken up into groups and they wrote the script, made the puppets and performed it. Weston was the narrator and did a great job!
March was also the month of the Wolf. Weston really needed to finish up his Wolf since he turned 9 back in January. We only had a handful of things left to do. He helped with some meal planning and cooking, we visited a government building, he picked up trash around our neighborhood, and he built a shelf for the basement speakers. For the government building we had planned on visiting city hall, but it turns out Lehi doesn't really have a city hall. Just administrative offices. That are closed on Fridays. We tried to visit on a Friday. Instead we visited the library, which Weston didn't know was a government building. We talked about how taxes help pay for library services and why a library is important to the community. After our library trip we stopped to play at a new park. It was a fun outing!
Saturday was Davin's birthday party! It gets it's own post. It was a super fun party and now we are done with birthday parties for awhile. Yay!
Tuesday was Davin's actual 7th birthday. I made him some breakfast and he got to open his presents before school. He got his own Nintendo 3DS XL. His grandparents sent him some
DS games. He was a happy camper! As soon as he got home from school he played DS all afternoon. It was a perfect day. :) For his birthday dinner Ian grilled hamburgers. We had ice cream for dessert. Davin got a candle in his dish of ice cream and we sang to him. I hope he had a good day. I sure love him. He's such a funny, smart, kind, sensitive little guy. I am excited to see what amazing things he does.
Other random fun this month included Weston giving piggy back rides, lot of "nice cozy" time snuggled in blankets, Weston building an epic straw, a mini date with Davin, Indian food, puzzles and more!
