March is always one of my favorite months of the year! First of all, it's my birthday, so that's always fun. It's also finally officially Spring! The days get a little warmer and a little longer. It's the best. This year was no exception. March was awesome!
March kicked off with some normal fun days at home. I sure love when Talia and Beckett play nicely together and are sweet to each other. :) Talia loves to wear her penguin jammies at the same time as me and asks me almost every night if I'm going to wear mine. Haha. One morning we got to snuggle for a bit in our matchy jammies. Weston got an award at pack meeting and got to lead the sprinkler cheer. These cub scout boys are so cute and silly.
Talia had crazy hair/pajama/Dr. Seuss day at preschool! She had been so excited about it. I put blue gel in her hair. It's kind of hard to see, but she loved it and I convinced her to let me do buns on her head.
Later that afternoon we played with neighbors outside since the weather was SO warm! Our cute little neighbor Max, who is 4, found out he had a brain tumor and had surgery to remove it. The surgery went well but the tumor had already spread and he has medullablastoma cancer. So awful. He was in the hospital for 10 days after his surgery. That night he came home and our neighborhood rallied to welcome him home. It was so sweet to see his happy face when he got home and all his friends were there welcoming him home with signs and balloons. We truly live in an amazing neighborhood. There is so much love and support here. We are still praying for Max as he has started radiation and chemo. Please send up prayers for him! #amiracleformax
That night Ian and I went with a big group to do an escape room. It was our first time doing one and it was really fun! I totally thought we were going to get stuck, but at the last second we solved the puzzle and got out with only 49 seconds to spare! Haha It was in an old airstream trailer and looked very horror film-esque from the outside, but it ended up being a fun night out with friends.
Saturday morning I threw Melanie a cute little baby shower! It was small, but lots of fun. We played a couple games and got to visit. Mel got some really cute things for baby girl! The food was delicious too. I made souffle and muffins, mini donuts, fruit, and I found a beautiful and tasty strawberry cake at the store. We can't wait to meet baby girl Curnow!
Right after the shower we gathered up the kids and went down to UVU and got to have lunch on the MBA program and watch a basketball game. We came home with t-shirts and foam cheering sticks. It was fun and I'm glad we went. We didn't last the whole game, but the kids liked the game and their shirts. Speaking of Ian's MBA he is almost done with his first trimester and so far so good. It is a lot of time away from home, but we are managing pretty well. It's much easier now that the kids are a little older and a lot more independent. Go Ian!
On Monday the kids had a day off school for teacher development, so they got to enjoy a long weekend! Our outing that day was to Krispy Kreme! The boys had just gotten their report cards the week before and they both did great, so they each earned a half dozen free glazed donuts. They each shared a couple and got to eat the rest themselves. It was fun and we got to watch some donuts being made and see a few friends there!
Tuesday and Wednesday were busy busy as I got ready to leave on a little birthday trip to California by myself. I flew out on Wednesday evening and stayed until Monday. It was such a nice getaway and I loved getting to spend some time with my family. I'll post about my trip separately.
Ian was a rockstar dad while I was gone! He took the whole time off work and did a great job keeping up with the kids' busy schedule. I am so lucky!
When I got back from my trip I had to quickly prep for joy school. I taught that next week. We did the letter X and it went pretty well. We did most of our X activities on Tuesday then on Thursday (aka my birthday) we did St. Patrick's Day and birthday activities. I even bought a little chocolate cake and made the kids sing me Happy Birthday. Haha!
On Wednesday that week we met up with the Curnow's at the Museum of Curiosity. I had missed Mel! Brad was on Spring break so they were playing! We had a lot of fun running around the museum. Talia found this Lego throne that someone else had built and got to feel like a queen for a few minutes. Beckett loved this frog squashing game that was new. He could have stayed there forever! Talia and Beckett were both fascinated learning about animal skulls too. Definitely a good museum trip.
That weekend Ian and I took just Talia and Beckett to the farm while the big boys were off playing with friends. It was pretty crowded and apparently it was National Agriculture Day, so there was a big tractor and a few other little activities set up around the farm. We did pony rides (even though the line was super long) and hit the wagon ride too. It was a nice day out and it was fun to just take the little ones. That Sunday we didn't have church because the new Provo City Center temple was being dedicated. Weston and I went to the dedication. It was really nice. I was kind of bummed that Davin wasn't quite old enough. That afternoon we drove over to a little park by the Jordan River trail and played and relaxed and walked on the trail a little bit.
On Monday I took Tal and Beck to the dino museum for a quick visit and we ran into Mel and Wilson! They were there with one of Mel's friends and we caught up to them at the wet sand. It was fun to see them and to get to chat with Mel for a little bit.
Later that week we celebrated Davin's 8th birthday! I'll do another post all about his special day!
On Friday night (the day after Dav's birthday) we went to the little park by our house for a memorial celebration for our friends, the Harding's, who lost their little boy Tui a year ago. Another example of our amazing neighborhood. We all came together and the Harding's unveiled a bench in the park in Tui's honor and a little plaque about him. It was a special evening. We also did a balloon release. We sure love their family and still keep them in our prayers. After that we came home and set up for Davin's little birthday party. It's not a party year but instead of an outing Davin wanted to have a late night and he ended up having 5 friends come, so it felt like a party. :)
Saturday was our annual Bowles/Bayles Easter lunch and egg hunt. We had so much fun with the Bayles'! The kids got a long well, the food was great, our first try at a color coded egg hunt went really well and, of course, the company was fantastic. :) We lucked out with some sunshine that day. It had been cold and rainy again for awhile before that. If the sun disappeared behind a cloud then we were all chilly, but when the sun was out it was perfect.
Sunday was Easter and we had a nice morning home. The kids all found their Easter baskets fairly quickly (even though a couple of them were hidden pretty hard!). They played with their new things and ate candy for breakfast. Then we got ready for church in time to snap a pic in our Easter Sunday best. Church was nice and the kids sang Did Jesus Really Live Again. It was beautiful. That afternoon we rested up and tidied the house. The Curnow's came over for Easter dinner and it was delicious! I did a ham and cheesy potatoes. Mel brought salad and rolls and cantaloupe. It was all so pretty and so yummy. After dinner it was nice enough to play in the backyard. Talia and Beckett did bubbles for a little while and got all sticky. Haha Wilson loved running around! We are so glad the Curnow's could come celebrate with us! I love Easter and all that it represents. I am so thankful for my Savior and the hope that I have because of Him.
The tail end of March was crazy hair day for the big boys to celebrate white ribbon week. They used their pink and green hair gel and had pretty great mohawks. That afternoon I got to help drive Weston's Weblos den to their outing to meet the mayor of Lehi. It was fun to be with the boys (even if they can be super annoying). They had a good half hour or more of face time with the mayor and he talked to them about hard decisions the city has to make and how the city uses it's resources. The boys got to ask lots of questions and the mayor finished by reminding them to always hold doors for ladies and taking a silly face picture with the boys. When we got back I fed Davin a quick dinner then he got ready and went to his first night of cub scouts! He loved it and said it was so much fun. My boys are both lucky to have awesome scout leaders!
Whew! As we wind down toward the end of the school year things only get busier. I just have to say how much I am loving this stage of motherhood. I love staying busy with my kids and all the great things they are doing. I love that I still have one or two toes in the baby stage though. Beckett still naps every other day and we have slow mornings together sometimes. I'm so grateful for the amazing people my kids are growing up to be and I'm proud of their kindness, hard work, and friendliness. I'm pretty lucky to be their mom!
