Conference Weekend

This last weekend was a fun one filled with lots of pajamas, friends, family and church. Wait, pajamas and church? Yup, General Conference! On Friday night Ian's sister, Aly, came to stay with us for the weekend. She had caught a ride with roommates from BYU-I. It was great to see her. Saturday morning we had our friends, Becca and Alann, over for the morning session. We made a fun breakfast and enjoyed listening to the talks. That afternoon was a little more low key and I missed a lot of the session since Weston had woken up from his nap fussy and whining. I spent most of the afternoon session rocking and feeding and in general dealing with the whininess. :) Right after the afternoon session Aly and I went shopping while the boys stayed home. It was fun. Ian went to the Priesthood session and we watched a movie and put weston to bed. It was a very nice Saturday.
Sunday morning we headed to Jared and Natalie's house for the morning session. It was a little chaotic with 4 little boys running around, but we had fun. In between sessions we drove aly to where her roommates were staying in Alpine and then made it home just in time for the afternoon session, which i thoroughly enjoyed curled up on the couch. So, it was a very relaxed weekend and weston had fun spending time with Aunt Aly.
Today we had a surprise visit from Aunt Mel and Brad who were passing through on their trek back to BYU-I from CA where they spent conference weekend with the Olson's. They had a few hours between their flight into SLC and their shuttle back to school, so they came by with a couple friends of Brad's. It was great to get a little face time with them again too. Woo hoo for family and friends and Conference!

Park City

We spent the weekend with Grandma and Grandpa Snowball in Park City. We had such a good time! We went up on Saturday evening and Weston promptly began his exploration of the hotel. He slept all through the night in his pack and play, thank goodness. :) On Sunday we found the local church and went to the morning sacrament meeting then got the room ready for guests. All the aunts and uncles and cousins in the Salt Lake area came up for dinner that night. We had B and T, Jessica and Colby and their 4 kids, Nicole and Greg and their 2 kids, Blake and Chad from BYU, and us. It was a fun evening. That day we went for a walk around the grounds outside and saw some real live horses! We also played with the jumbo chess set. Weston wasn't really interested in that until he discovered that some of the pieces were big horses then he worked on getting all four horses to the center and trying to ride them. It was rather amusing. Today we shopped at the outlet stores and spent some more time visiting with grandma and grandpa. Weston was very sweet with his great grandparents and let them hold him and doled out kisses and hugs (on my command of course). We even got Grandpa singing to him on video. Anyway, all in all a great little getaway and visit with family. Here are some highlights.

Weston on the ginormous chess board. :)
Look Mom! I found a horse and I will try to ride it like a real cowboy.
Weston and I walking out to the real horse corral.
Weston loved the elevator and would stand really still and get this exact look on his face.

Haircut

I finally gave Weston his first haircut at home. After going to the barber a couple times I decided this was entirely too expensive, so we gave it a whirl this afternoon. It turned out pretty good. I did it all one length with the clippers, so it didn't require much skill, but I think I will do the back and sides with a shorter clip in the bath tonight so it looks a little cleaner. Also, these pics were taken on our new couch in the den, which we are loving! Woo hoo for Craigslist. :)

Silly Weston

Life has been busy, but we had a quiet Sunday afternoon all together last weekend and it's always funny to watch what interests Weston. He has been learning so much. While Auntie Mel was here a few weeks ago he learned how to climb up into chairs and also how to pucker his lips to kiss (apparently Auntie Mel is an expert teacher). Recent new words include dog, read, work, milk, book, and go. Here are some silly pics of things he's learned and his general nuttiness. Weston is on a headlamp kick, but usually he pulls it really low so it scrunches up his eyes.
He found the Harry Potter glasses from when we went to the party in NYC for the 6th book.
Weston loves to color, but only knows the names for yellow and purple.

Weston doing a somewhat weak pucker to give mama a kiss. He didn't want to perform I guess.

Babies

Wow, well, i think it's officially time to make the announcement to all who check this blog and don't already know, so all 2 of you. ;) Anyway, Ian and I are excited that we are expecting Bowles Baby #2 in March of next year, which sounds like ages away! So far so good with the pregnancy. I heard the heartbeat for the first time today. At my last appointment it was too early, but we got to see some early pics of "it". We honestly can't decide if we want it to be a boy or a girl. I want a girl just to have a girl, but it would be fun for Weston to have a little brother to hang out with and we have all the clothes and bedding and toys for a boy, so that would be nice too. Anyway, we wont find out what gender it is until the first week of november, but we'll keep you posted.

Family Pics

Ok I guess the family pictures that we took got uploaded from the camera onto a laptop from Ian's work, but i tracked them down and here is our favorite. We had a really nice weekend. I had Saturday off of work for the first time in 6 weeks! Yay! To celebrate a break in both our work schedules, Ian and I went to the Sanctuary Day Spa and did this amazing couples package complete with side by side massages, a 30 minute private whirlpool bubble bath, cheesecake and strawberries and a really cool starry sky ceiling. Anyway, it was very relaxing and indulgent and we enjoyed every minute of it. Someday we will have to do it again.
After our spa afternoon, we went to some friends' house to watch the BYU-UCLA game, which was a close, but disappointing loss. It was still pretty fun though. Sunday was chill and relaxed and we are having beautiful 70's weather! Well, I hope everyone else had a great weekend too. Back to daily business today, grocery shopping, mopping the floors, you know, the fun stuff.

Auntie Mel

Weston had his Auntie Mel staying with us for the last week and a half and we had a really nice time. We met Brad the boyfriend and hung out and were silly. Mel watched Weston while I worked which was great. He's quite the angel once mom's not around. Mel left this morning to head back up to Rexburg to move into her apartment and get ready for the fall semester at BYU-I. I am alone once again and really should be cleaning up this house of mine, but who wants to do that?
We had a huge storm on Tuesday and Wednesday and so now there's a branch the size of a small tree collapsed on our lawn, but yard cleanup is going to have to wait until Saturday morning. I am finally seeing a break in my work schedule this month! I am so excited. My co-rec therapist is back a couple days a week now so i have a few more days off than before, including some saturdays! We are all pretty stoked about it. Well, we took some family pics while Mel was here, but I can't find them on the computer at the moment, so I will have to post them later. Mel taught Weston to say her name and also he said his first "sentence": dada work. :) He's learning so much and is such a big boy. Anyway, it was a fun week having Mel here and of course, finally meeting Brad. I'm on the hunt for the pics to post, so keep checking back.
