HA! Sick day. Yeah right. Moms don't get those. I am sick though, so I suppose that technically today is a sick day. I might not do a couple things I normally would, like vacuum, but life doesn't go on without dishes getting washed and laundry being done and meals being served (not necessarily made from scratch). I wish that I could just curl up in bed and read, then doze off, then get up and take more dayquil, eat some toast, climb back in bed, etc. I made the mistake of taking the kids on an outing thinking that it would be easier then trying to entertain them at home when I don't feel good. It was a mistake. Davin is also a little under the weather and it was too much for him. He conked out in the car and I just didn't have the energy to fight him awake the whole way home. I assumed he would be tired enough to come inside and still take a real nap. Wrong. He still hasn't taken a nap, with the exception of his 10 minutes in the car. So, yes, it's been a rough day and it's only 3pm.
I miss the days when someone took care of me. No one takes care of me anymore. I don't even take care of me anymore. Also, I am just plain sick of being sick. I caught a cold September 15th and I think I've felt 100% for maybe 3 days since then. I was just feeling like I was over it when it came right back. With a vengeance, I might add. I am pretty bummed because I will be in no shape to audition for a solo for my choir this weekend. Lame. So far I have only lost it once. I threw the puppy out in the backyard and threw Weston in bed for a nap, which he is actually taking. Hallelujah. At least one person in this house will be well rested.
I do apologize for the whinyness of this post. I just can't quite muster anything positive in my current state. Poor me.

have you ever tried wellness formula? it is an herbal immune system booster that I've found to be really helpful, especially with that lingering stuff.
Get well soon!
Being sick is the WORST when you're a Mom . . . there is no time off, and I swear that's why it takes me THREE TIMES LONGER to get well than it does for Greg who just sleeps for a 24 hour period then gets over it!
ohhh shan i have those wellness formula pills. they do help quiet a bit. i would pick some up. hopefully they will help you out. In the meantime, hang in there. I am spoiled and still get taken care of when sick so i cant say i relate. But i love you and if you need to vent...call me!
Poor you is right!!! I am always jealous to see my hubby take a sick day and actually get to rest. Oh well, that's life. Don't forget to put on your oxygen mask first! (That means it's important to take care of yourself too!!!)
My word verification was "unmen"! I think that I'm one of those. ;)
I'd bring you chicken noodle soup if I were there! I hope you feel better soon. And it's ok to whine when your sick. You're aloud.
Bummer I am so sorry you have been so sick! I hope everyone gets better and that you get some needed rest. I KNOW what you mean about just wanting to crawl into a hole, read a book and sleep as much as you want to. Hope you get the chance this weekend. :(
Do you mind if I ask if you have tried 1000 mg Vitamin C pills? I take them everyday and they help me get sick less or not as sick if I do get sick.
Oh Shannon NO FUN!!! I hope tomorrow is a little bit of a better day. Being sick is the worst. I am not a good MOm at all when I am sick. Ugg! It is okay to not cook dinner, just ahve the kids watch movies all day and you veg on the couch or computer. Really, it is okay. Oh, I am wishing you a better day.
awww im so sorry. i hope you feel better soon! i say you make your hubby take on full time kid duty this weekend so that you can sleep sleep sleep. take care!
I remember the first time I was sick and had a child that still needed constant attention. My mom ended a phone call with "Take care of yourself---" and then she tongue-in-cheek added, "'Cause no one else will!" I was angry. But then I realized how true it was. It sucks. That's all there is to it.
After one of my surgeries I was so sick and in so much pain that I got to spend THREE days in the hospital on morphine. Everyone was so busy taking care of my kids that I only got two visitors the whole time. It was AWESOME! I got food when I wanted, a blanket when I wanted, I could watch what I wanted on TV... It was the life :)
I hope today is a better day.
I know what you mean. My whinyness right now is that sometimes I just want to do something for me. I've been running around with kiddies, keeping the household together and at night sometimes all I want is a quiet 20 minutes to catch up on a show or work out and ANY time I even plan on doing something for myself... one of the two kids has a hard night or cries!!! GRRR. I'm sorry I wish we did get sick days.
Feel better soon!
I hear ya! I just got over my cold and now it's back to getting things done; which really makes me sick!
Hi Shannon,
This is Jenn (Kat Barney's little sister). I don't know if you remember me, but I just wanted you to know that occasionally I stalk your blog! :-) hahaha! I know that sounds creepy, but I like to read about your outings, great mom-ideas, and your take on life. Anyways, I wanted you to know that I really appreciate your example. I don't have any kids yet, but eventually when I do, I want them to be as awesome and well-rounded as your boys. Thanks again for blogging thru the good days and the bad... it's inspiring! :-) Hope you're feelin better!
