At The Hospital - Update

Shannon is still in labor. Things are going well. The baby is just taking his time. Shannon is having longer and harder contractions. We are still in good shape. Thanks for all your comments.
We'll get pictures up as soon as we can.

At The Hospital - Well Wishes Welcome

Well, we are at the hospital. Leaving Weston at home with Aunt Aly turned out to be less traumatic than we thought it might be (the lure of storytime and the park seemed to be a good trade off for letting mom go without a fuss).

We have the internets here, so feel free to post your well wishes and I will pass them on to Shannon (who has as of yet - 10:18am - not been poked or prodded with anything).

Happy Easter!!!

We had a wonderful Easter Sunday together as a family with Mom and Aunt Aly joining us. I went to let Weston out of his room in the morning and opened the door to find him standing there wearing his bunny ears from the mall. He was so excited and went in and told Daddy Happy Easter. Then we hunted for his Easter basket. He was stoked to find it and immediately dug in checking out all the fun little presents that the easter bunny had brought. One of his new presents was the movie "101 Dalmations" so we put that in and watched while he played and we took turns showering. Later in the morning when everyone was here we did a little Easter egg hunt. Weston thought it was great and loved hunting and opening the eggs. We went to church and then came home and Mom made us a delicious ham dinner. Weston was a little grumpy since he had a late, short nap, but perked up after about an hour or so.

Finding eggs hidden on the car.
I included this one because it's such a great ginormous belly shot. :) Weston is finding an egg right there by the fence too.

Weston finding more eggs and having issues climbing around in the yard.

Ok, so onto the baby update. It is almost 7am and I am supposed to be induced today. I was really hoping and praying that I would call the hospital at 6 (like I was supposed to) and they would tell me to come on in, but no. I got up at 5:30 to shower just in case things actually went according to my ideal, but this baby does not want to cooperate with me. I was pretty upset and almost started crying when the lady on the phone told me that the charge nurse would be calling me by 8am to let me know when to come in, but if she didn't, then to call the hospital back. She guessed I wouldn't be able to come in until mid-morning or even early afternoon. Seeing as how my stomach is starving and I'm not supposed to eat or drink anything before going in, I am extremely bummed by this info. We will still be going in sometime today, so maybe the baby will cooperate and come fairly quickly and not keep me in labor for hours and hours and hours. We'll let you know. :)

Last Days II

Well, as the proverbial astroid known as "baby bruder" prepares to completely rock his unsuspecting world, we decided to take Weston on a series of outings today to celebrate his few remaining hours as an only child. His status as outright favorite: child, son, little boy and grandson are automatically called into question and will never again go unchallenged (even if only for appearance sake). It will be quite an adjustment for all of us.

Just so you don't think that the officially unnamed BBB2 will be shunned, I should let you in on a little secret....I'm actually more excited than I was with Weston. There are several factors at play here:

A) Weston came early, and didn't give me the full time to build up my excitement before he came. He was just all of a sudden here in a very surreal way.

2) I had just started my full-time grown-up job and I'm not ashamed to admit I was a little stressed about the responsibility of providing for a family. I was still finding my footing and faking all those things that I hadn't fully been taught in school at Vérité, so part of me was pretty sure I was just a few screw-ups and missed deadlines away from being fired. Rest assured, I was in no real danger of this happening, I was just stressing myself out. On a side note, if any of my superiors at Vérité are reading this, and I WAS in danger of being fired back then, please don't ever tell me.

III) I know what to expect (well, sorta) with this one. I know how awesome it is to hold a baby that is only minutes, if not seconds, old – and to know that he is yours.

Anyway, lets review the events that have made up Weston's last Saturday as a singleton.

Shannon really wanted to go bowling. I think we decided that her belly actually acts as some sort of natural counterbalance, causing her to bowl better than when she is not with child. Weston had a great time. The outing only resulted in one crying moment when I pulled him away from the crazy-spinning-wheel-O-hand-disfigurement that is the ball retrieval system.

Weston did awesome with my 13 lbs ball..... ok well, his was 5, but hey thats still like 20% of his body weight.

The results are in. Shannon Won.

Afterwords, we played a few quick games of skee-ball. Weston prefers the somewhat ineffective overhand technique.

We arrived at home around lunch time where my mom and sister had just pulled in.
Grandma had a special treat for our little ball of energy: His very own honest-to-goodness super hero cape.

After a few laps around the house, we all went to lunch together at McDonalds. Weston had a blast on the play place and even went down the big slide a few times (until we told him it was time to go).

After a much needed nap he was good to go for the rest of the evening which involved fine dining in the kitchen (courtesy of Grandma) and Easter Egg coloring.

A pretty busy day for the little guy. I am sure we will give you all an Easter update tomorrow as well. If not It probably won't happen, unless Shannon feels like writing about it using the wireless at the hospital (doubtful).

Visiting The Easter Bunny!

Weston was so excited to see the Easter Bunny for the second time yesterday. He went right up to him all by himself and sat on his lap and stared. He asked about his basket and eggs and gave the bunny a high five. I didn't want to pay $20 for two 3x5 photos, so I just go this one on my phone. So cute. Happy Easter!

Last Days

Well, as you all know, Weston is down to his last few days of being our only child. I have probably been spoiling him more than normal since I think about the fact that I will not have as much time to devote to just him when the new baby comes. I hope that I can find a good balance of spending alone time with Weston and with the newbie though. I am so excited to be done being pregnant and have a new addition in our home. I have had a cold all week, which has been really irritating. I'm hoping it will get better in the next couple of days, but I'm usually prone to long, lingering colds that drive me nuts for weeks, so we'll see.
As much as I really didn't want to see any pics of myself, I decided to post the few remotely decent ones from my birthday. I don't think there was a single one of me actually smiling, but these are the closest. Today we were at the mall and I was walking the length of it, still slightly hoping to go into labor on my own before Monday, and shopping for nursing bras (oh the joy) and we saw the Easter Bunny there. We saw the Easter Bunny there a few weeks ago and Weston went and talked to him and sorta sat on his lap, but today he was much more interested since we've been talking about Easter since then. So we waited in line and Weston went up all by himself and sat on his lap and stared at him smiling. It was adorable. He talked about all the eggs and getting a basket, gave the bunny a high five and then got another set of bunny ears. I only have a pic from my phone of him sitting on the bunny's lap, but here are a couple of him at home in the front yard with his ears on.

Happy St. Patrick's Day/Happy Birthday Shannon!

Happy Easter! (dont you love the pile of sticks behind Weston waiting to be cleaned up and carted off when we get around to spring cleaning the yard?!?)
Weston was staring at the mailman getting into the mail truck in this one. He is fascinated by all kinds of trucks but especially likes mail trucks.

End of Anxiety

The wait is no longer torture. I went to see my midwife yesterday and she asked if I would prefer an end point in this pregnancy and of course I said YES! So, if I don't go into labor on my own sometime between now and this weekend, then I am scheduled to be induced on Monday the 24th. I feel so much better about life now. I know that in less than a week we will have had this baby. Yay! I also like the idea of being home with Weston and the family for Easter and then going in first thing Monday to have the baby. I'm still not opposed to going into labor on my own before then, but if it doesn't happen, at least I have something to plan for. Yay! In the meantime, I have come down with a nasty little cold that is driving me nuts. I'm all congested and have a sore throat. I'm trying to lay low and take it easy, but you know me. I can't stay inside with a 2 year old all day, so we have still been doing some outings. Last night we returned to the Murray library for Jammie Storytime and they read all of Weston's favorite truck books. It was great. Today I really haven't been feeling well, so our outing consisted of Target and lunch at Wendy's. Anyway, I thought I would let you all know what the deal with baby waiting is. Hope everyone had a marvelous St. Patrick's Day!
