I'm not as well read as I thought and honestly I have zero desire to read some of these. Others I have meant to read for years and I just haven't gotten to them yet. I have to finish "The Host" first. :) I finally got it from the library yesterday. Also, if anyone is looking for an interesting summer read, I just finished "The Secret Life of Bees" by Sue Monk Kidd yesterday. It was amazing writing. I loved it. At least I am above the average adult (although I find it hard to believe most people haven't read more of these books since I read several in high school).

Whoohoo! 39. There are a few more I actually own (and some I have started) but haven't read (or finished)... so the count could be a little higher.
This is actually pretty sad for a high school English teacher... I should have AT LEAST half of them! I'll work on it!
I've read a little over 20 or more. The count could be higher, I just don't remember if I actually read them or not. Things as far back as high school are a lot blurrier these days. But it's a great list to refer to for reading resources. Thanks, Mom

I've read at least twenty. Others I can't remember if I read them, saw the movie, or discussed them in depth with a family member who was reading them. Shannon, I noticed you haven't read The Kite Runner. I'm not a huge reader, but I read that one last month and it was really good. Very moving. I recommend it!
Hey, I'm supposed to be the reading guru and I've only read 51 of them. It was a pretty strange list too--an odd mix of classics and contemporary. I noticed they put down almost every Austen and Dickens book, so if you're not a huge fan of them, your number definitely goes down.
